At this point, firstly, questions for an open debate on critical issues that contribute to patient safety are open.

Here are there the key points for each Working Group:

WG1. Network Promotion

  • How to explain what an adverse event is to the identified stakeholders in both
healthcare institutions and healthcare education organizations (for example,
managers and educators responsibilities to take care of their students) and develop
explanatory texts and examples to disseminate it on websites, social networks and
    media.
  • How to explain what a second victim is to the identified stakeholders and develop
explanatory texts and examples to disseminate it on websites, social networks and
    media.

WG2. Review and description of the State-of-the-Art

  • Definition of second victim in order to have a common language in this Action and
    beyond.
  • Pros and cons of using the term victim to refer to professionals.

WG3. Making it happen

  • To advance the identification of new metrics to assess the impact of safety
incidents on healthcare providers and healthcare students and ultimately on patient
    safety.
  • Define criteria to consider including as recommendable a “good practice”.
  • Criteria for developing the Case Study and Training Manual.

WG4. Facilitators and barriers

  • Proposals to identify facilitators and barriers, taboos, or obstacles to change
regulations and curricula in different countries.
  • How to identify the legislative changes needed to build a framework around the
concept of no-fault compensation across Europe.
